The NACE 2009 Conference took place in the Georgia World Congress Center, which is immense (although it's not very obvious on the picture).
Jerry gave a plenary lecture on The Future of Corrosion Education and the Effects on NACE International, right after a talk by the president of Nascar,Mike Kelton.
Rudy was the chair of the Research In Progress session on Fundamental Aspects of Corrosion Protection in Emergent Coatings and Coating Systems. He also gave two talks.
The first one was about Characterization of Inhibition by Lanthanum, Cerium, Praesodymium, Terbium and Zinc Cations in an Organic Coating Environment Using Ion Exchange Compound Pigments.
The second one, impromptu, was about Neural Networks for Predicting Coated Component Life for Short-Term EIS.
Anusha, Yang, Federico and Bastian showed their posters.
Mary and Nicolas both gave a talk in the Research In Progress session on Stability and Dynamics of Localized Corrosion.
Mary's talk was about the Effect of Environmental Factors on the Determination and Quantification of Corrosion Modes in AA7075.
Nicolas's talk was about the Assessment of the Effect of Alkalization in Localized Corrosion of Aluminum Alloys Using Finite Element Modeling.
Federico won the 1st place for the Mars Fontana award. His poster was about the development of a Cr-free coating.
We all enjoyed his award (and the Student luncheon).
The whole FCC-at-NACE 2009 crew (without the professors though).
