A new collaboration has been established between the FCC and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). DNV is an independent, Norwegian-based, foundation with the purpose of safeguarding life, property and the environment. A DNV-owned company, CC Technologies (CCT) is located in Dublin, OH. CCT, a world leader in corrosion science and engineering services, now houses a DNV Materials and Corrosion Research and Innovation Center. As part of the establishment of this Center, DNV funded a designated chair in corrosion at The Ohio State University and Professor Gerald S. Frankel, Director of the FCC, has been named the first DNV Chair in Corrosion. The chair will support research in the areas of biofuel corrosion and cracking as well as coating adhesion. Another aspect of the collaboration is the appointment of Dr. Narasi Sridhar, the director of the DNV Research and Innovation Center in Dublin, as an adjunct professor in Materials Science and Engineering at OSU. Dr. Sridhar was previously on the staff of the Southwest Research Institute for 19 years.
