Engineering. Operations duties: Supervise between five and eight student employees. Maintain the programming and user environments on the facility's Macintosh computers, IBM PC-compatible computers, and DEC OpenVMS workstations. Provide consulting services to facility users, including periodic "how-to" workshops. Assist users of application software, including (but not necessarily limited to) Maple, Matlab, Fluent, I-DEAS, and Interleaf. Help to develop and maintain facility security policies and general user documentation. Programming projects: Assisted development of Maple (symbolic math program) port to OpenVMS. Maintain graphics library, QWIKPLT, based on Visual Numerics (formerly Precision Visuals Inc.) DI-3000 graphics package. Maintain OpenVMS printer driver (symbiont) which enforces page limits/quotas on PostScript laser printers, as well as providing common access from OpenVMS, Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, and UNIX environments. Other tasks: Help to maintain College of Engineering access system. Assist maintenance of network infrastructure. |
