Manly Beach
January 30, 2004
Manly is the second most popular beach in Sydney. It is located on the Pacific
Ocean, just north of the Sydney Harbour. The first pictures are from the ferry ride
and the last are what I took in between thunderstorms...so this is as empty as the
beach gets. To get there, most people take the Sydney Ferry.

I couldn't get a good seat for the journey there, but I made sure I got a good
one on the way back. The ferries are really big, but the outside seating
is not even 1% of the total seats.

This is what I saw when I got there. I got thought, *this* is what everyone
raves about? There's not even 10 people there! But then I followed
everyone else on the ferry and they lead me to the other side of the
peninsula to get to the real Manly beach.

After the first storm passed by, I was one of the first to get on the
beach -- it was wide open.

It's hard to see here, but the beach is huge -- it stretches on for miles.

The seagulls feel it is their beach, they certainly don't mind the rain.
So why should they move when the humans return?

On my way back, a bright sailboat (catamaran?) stuck out amid the gray
city in the background.
