Australia Day
Jan 26, 2004

Australia Day is the biggest holiday here. It is the anniversary of the arrival of
the first settlers to Australia from Great Britain in 1788. I walked around the
downtown area for 3-4 hours and went into the Art Gallery. I left before the
fireworks started, but fireworks don't seem to be the big deal that they are in
the US. There were a lot more people out than a usual weekend, but since the
downtown is so big, there were only one or two times I had to push through a
crowd.

This picture is actually from the Friday before Australia Day. This is Darling
Harbor, a cool area with restaurants and shops. This shows that a tripod is needed
in certain lighting conditions.

There was a display of classic cars here so when I saw the Mustangs, I figured I'd
take a picture or two.

This is of the Royal Botanical Gardens that I went and visited earier (where the
bats were) but the other time my batteries died.

Beautiful background, but this picture could use a person, don't you think?

Hmm...better...but my face is a bit dark.

Yeah...a flash is just what is needed.
