Sydney Arts Festival
Italian Street Theatre

This allowed me to see Olympic Park, where (of course) the Olympics were once
held. It doesn't seem to be used to much anymore though it is still a very nice
area, albeit kind of empty.

The Italian Street Theatre was a really quite strange experience. It wasn't
anything like the street performers I've seen in Hollywood or the UK. The whole
time they had a guy on the PA talking about mythological-type angels (e.g., "I
am the angel of fire -- I provide fire to combat the monsters of the forest")
and they played background opera music. They had trapeze artists (supposed to
be angels) flying around on wires way up in the air, trapeze artists (supposed
to be angels) suspended from mini-hot air balloons (seen below), people rolling
around in plastic bubbles (seen below), and one trapeze artist for the finale
who walked upsideways on a 20 story hotel. The pictures aren't great but it was
completely dark out so I had to lighten the pictures so that you could seen
anything at all.

The building in blue on the left is the one the last woman/angel climbing up
sideways as if she could defy gravity. Crazy stuff.

"Woman in a bubble." Hmmm, that kind of sounds like a toy or maybe a TV show.
