Dr. Sahai's research interests include a variety of topics in the processing of materials. His current research activities are concentrated in the area of mathematical/computer and experimental modeling of transport phenomena in materials processing operations. Prior to joining the faculty at Ohio State in January 1983, Dr. Sahai was a research associate at McGill University in Canada. He has received several awards including the 1993 Electric Furnace Conference Award for best paper, 1993 Lumley Research Award, 1993 MacQuigg Teaching Award, 1986 and 1990 Process Technology Division Awards of the Iron and Steel Society, the 1986 Mars G. Fontana Teaching Award from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at Ohio State, and the 1984 Extractive Metallurgy Science Award of TMS-AIME. He has been selected by the ISS as one of the two Iron and Steel Society Professors in the U.S. He has been very active in The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS) and the Iron and Steel Society (ISS). He is co-editor of three books entitled Casting of Near Net Shape Products , Recycling of Metals and Engineered Materials published by TMS in 1988 and Transport Processes in Metallurgical Systems, published by Elsevier in 1992.
